  • Mood: Artistic
  • Listening to: Julien // Placebo

  • Watching: Are You Being Served? // The Hand of Fate
  • Playing: RPing with Mish
  • Eating: Nothing! Oddly.
  • Drinking: Cherry Moon tea
What? NO ONE WANTS ME TO PIMP THEM? Srsly!?

Ah-ha-HA! Here we go again! You know the deal, kiddies, I have fifteen spaces. Comment if you want me to pimp three of my favorite works. :)

=-ek- and ~BlackAngel-Diana already featured me so they get the first two spots. Thanks, ladies!

P.S.- Sorry about the links- my account isn't paid so I can't use thumbs. :3 Thanks to =-ek- for trying to help me!

1. :icon-ek-::
#1- [link] - Simone and Vetinari WIP
Of course, I'm particularly connected to this one, since it's my character (*cough*MarySue!*cough*) and Lord Vetinari of Discworld fame. EK has a talent for drawing these two semi-naked. Even though they aren't facing each other, it still seems like they're connected and saying a lot, even though the drawing makes them seem very still.
P.S.- The finished art is here: [link]
#2- [link] - Baby Shower Invitation
This is so sweet! EK did this for her sister's baby shower. People often ignore hand-made items and this is just so sweet that she drew this for her with such a cute phrase! Very sentimental and very much appreciated, I'm sure. :)
#3- [link] - The Madness of Miss Trotta
I've always loved this one, mostly because of its real-world connection- EK had her own art show which was amazingly cool! The dude on the poster is cool and freaky and the text works with it.

2. :iconblackangel-diana::
#1- [link] - Me and the yellow flowers
Even though this is Diana's ID, pretty much, this is one of my favorite deviations of hers. This looks so accidental, like this is a photograph that her great-grandchildren will pick up in years and years from now and wonder what she was thinking. Dreamlike, too, and it seems accidental and not contrived at all.
#2- [link] - Custom MLP - Harry Potter
Diana's a My Little Pony artist, which is something that amazes me. She can take an ordinary pony and make it into something extraordinary. This girl fit everyone (and I mean -everyone-) from Harry Potter onto this pony and made it into a work of art!
#3- [link] - MLP Set- Valentine's Kiss
Another MLP set, this one has beautiful, soft colors with a sweet Valentine's message. So sweet!

3. :iconsukeile::
#1- [link] - Chubby for Ashe
This will be a perpetual favorite of mine. ~Sukeile made chubbies for a bunch of us one day and I wanted mine rainbow and happy! They're adorable, personal, and fun. Chubbies are a ~Sukeile classic!
#2- [link] - Train of Thought
I thought I'd include a newer work while I'm at it! Drawn in her storybook, dream-like fashion, this is a gorgeous full-color picture of a "train of thought." She has an eye for detail, look at the picture and try to remember *everything* on there!
#3- [link] - Floating House
She said she had a dream about this house and I *love* when people use their dreams as artistic inspiration (I write down things from dreams all the time and even used *other* people's dreams for stuff.) She has a special way for making things look like a storybook and I really wonder who lives in that house!

4. :iconkonfuse::
#1- [link] - The Bride
This is a delightful find! It's a photo of her cousin on her wedding day in sepia, which makes it look like an old-time photograph. It also helps that her cousin has an intense look on her face, as if she's thinking hard about something.
#2- [link] - Flann Magic Card
I love when people do their own versions of things, so I loved that ~konfuse makes her own Magic cards! I picked this one for the happy mushrooms in the background, but all of her cards are neat!
#3- [link] - Snowdrop
This is the great kind of outdoor photo you get when the light is just so! It feels very dreamy with all of the plants and some parts in the front a bit blurry. It makes you wonder if there's fairies living there somewhere...

5. :iconchisue::
Going through ~Chisue's gallery makes me realize that I'd never done it before. o_o
#1-[link] - Fairy Kingdom
Wow. This is amazing! Gorgeous, bright colors and lots of detail make this visually appealing for the eyes. So sweet!
#2- [link] - Letter Paper 01
I didn't know that ~Chisue made letter paper! Fun, cute designs, all things that I love in stationery. :)
#3- [link] - If I Were a Swallow
This was unexpected- it's a flash animation with a poem! The poem makes me feel like it's a beautiful summer outside and the picture of the tree is pretty!

6. :iconfreyad-dryden:
I'm proud to say that this guy is a new friend of mine. His gallery is mostly writing but I'm going to talk about the things I keep looking at.
#1- [link] - Diary of an Evil Wizard-
This was the first thing I read of his. There's a lot to be said and I could go on and on, but he seamlessly writes an account of a man's descent into madness. Cliche aside, it describes the story perfectly. He writes enough story to follow it while still feeling like you're in the middle of the action. Power, painful love, and obsession are all included in this story. Go read it!
#2- [link] - Vista Error-
Whenever someone impersonates an error message, I laugh. This is an example of his dry humor. That, and I use both Windows -and- Linux, so I can relate.
#3- [link] - Two Face Costume -
Two Face is my favorite Batman villain (next to the Riddler) and I love love love his makeup job here. This isn't a just kidding makeup job, you can definitely see the scarred and beautiful sides of his face.

Bonus: [link]
Every time I see the actual ad, I laugh out loud because of think of this. What *would* you smell like to Edward Cullen?

Spaces 7-15 COULD BE YOU, sir.

Mini art trade?

Mon Feb 16, 2009, 12:10 AM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: Solyria playing on WoW
  • Reading: Rumors // Anna Godbersen
  • Watching: Secret Diary of a Call Girl
  • Playing: Graverobbers from Outer Space
  • Eating: Nothing! Oddly.
  • Drinking: Iced tea
Is anyone interested in some sort of mini art-trade? I feel like I would be inspired if I had something of certain characters, like a story or a picture. I of course cannot draw but I can write. :)

Comment or PM me?

P.S.- I got to visit ~Solyria! I'm listening to her play World of Warcraft.

Also: I can't decide whose hotter, Hans or Simon Gruber. Thoughts?

Ho hum...

I've been AWOL, guys. I hit some hard times- my so-called "boyfriend" broke up with me by not calling for two weeks (nice, right?) and then one of my very dear friends died. January 2009 has not been very kind to me...

So I've been behind on DA and even a bit on my email. Things are looking up, I started graduate school, which is pretty hot. And I might be going to visit ~Solyria next week, if my work schedule permits. I've also been helping my friend Susan plan her wedding, of which I'm her maid of honor. :) My mom and I have also started planning our next trip to England in 2010. :) I've really had the travel bug recently. Thankfully, my graduate courses are online, so I can take my studies on the road with me!

I've also seen some good movies lately- Revolutionary Road, The Unborn, and The Uninvited. The Uninvited was off the hook, the twist gave me chills.

I'm going to go back to typing my notes and seeing what I have to do for school this week. :) Have a nice day!

*Sukeile brought this up in her journal...

Do you remember what you wanted to be when you were little?
Did you fulfill that dream?
If not, what do you work with/study for now?

When I was little, I wanted to be a writer. I'm not a famous writer and I've never even had anything published, but I still write a lot. :) I work and study for a culinary career now but I still haven't given up on writing.

I love cooking and I love business. My brain was meant for organization and numbers. I want a nice job, one that's a result of hard work, but both of those things definitely aren't my life. I enjoy other things and my career just funds them.

I would like to write books for a living one day though. :)
